Mission/Ministry Beyond the Church

These suggested ministries are designed to engage the membership in service to the community beyond the confines of this place of worship. While this is far from an exhaustive list, it does contain a variety of Mission and Ministry activities that provides every member of the church with an opportunity to participate, despite possible physical limitations, mobility restrictions and time constraints. It is our desire, with the support of the ‘spirit filled’ leadership of this church, to engage every member of this Christian family to completely live out our call to serve as disciples in faithful obedience to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, ‘…for the transformation of the world’.

Please carefully read and prayerfully make your choice from the recommendation list. If you are currently involved with a small group or Mission/Ministry (M/M) in our church that is not listed, please contact our M/M coordinators Pastor Carter, Kathryn B., Mike M. and John G. It is important that you do not misunderstand the nature of this church wide endeavor. While participation is NOT mandatory, it is our hopeful expectation that everyone will prayerfully consider being involved in one of these suggested Mission/Ministry possibilities. We welcome the creation of any new M/M that meets the basic requirements for outreach. If you have any questions or concerns regarding M/M requirements beyond those explained in this document, please contact the Mission/Ministry coordinator.

Guidelines for Mission/Ministry Participation

  1. There are no restrictions as to who may participate (unless the nature of the Mission/Ministry is gender specific).
  2. An M/M must have at least three persons and no more than seven persons per group.
  3. Each person must submit their M/M interest individually, not as a part of a group.
  4. M/M will be filled by random draw to provide equal access to these mission and ministry opportunities.
  5. Each M/M group will be asked to make a progress report quarterly.
  6. Each group will collectively and intentionally create time for prayer before and after engaging in your M/M We encourage you to share your thoughts about the M/M with each other for clarity, support, and encouragement for service.
  7. With the exception of this initial M/M “kick-off” Rally, all M/M will be reviewed annually.
  8. You will participate in one M/M, however, please list your top three M/M requests in order of preference in case your first choice is filled.

How is Your Mission or Ministry Progressing?

As you prayerfully participate in M/M beyond the church your quarterly report shall address the following questions.

  1. How many members of your group participated in this monthly activity (total number of persons participating in the activity).
  2. How many people or places has your M/M served or impacted outside of the congregation?
  3. How much money have you collected and/or contributed from all sources? (Give specific monthly total amounts for both if applicable).
  4. How much money has your M/M spent in total to date?
