Doing Good in our Neighborhood
Lunch for our Neighborhood Kroger Employees
The immediate neighborhood (at 11 mile and Middlebelt) around our church includes a Kroger grocery store where workers have been selflessly putting themselves on the line for our community providing food and essential supplies. We contacted Greg, one of the managers at this Kroger Store, and asked how we could best help the store and show our appreciation and he told us that it would mean a lot to the team at this Kroger store to have lunch provided for them as well as to let the employees know that we appreciate what they are doing.
So we contacted the Ideal Bite Community Kitchen, owned and operated by Matt and Amy Lange, who are a part of the Nardin Park Family. Matt’s mom Pat Lange works at Ideal Bite along with Peggy Wilke, sister of Tim Latimer. Ideal Bite is also in our immediate neighborhood! And Ideal Bite was happy to partner with us to thank the Kroger workers. In this way we are really helping 2 businesses in our local neighborhood! The Nardin Park Missions team agreed to supply the funds for this lunch for 60 Kroger employees on Saturday, April 18th, which will be catered in a safe way, by Ideal Bite! But the story does not stop there. A generous donor heard about the plans and stepped up with a big time donation and so now we are able to provide lunch not just this Saturday, but another Saturday in the near future as well!
Here is how you can help: Over the next few days and weeks, from the safety of your own home, make a card and or write a note of appreciation to the Kroger workers, thanking them for all they have been doing during this time. Sign the note with your name and under your name write “Nardin Park Love” so they know how much love the Nardin Park community has for them!Let’s shower our local Kroger staff with love and support and let them know they are appreciated every day in every way.

Another way you can appreciate the Kroger workers, and any grocery store or other kinds of retail businesses is by wearing a mask when you are shopping, practicing the social distancing guidelines while you are in the store and throwing your disposable gloves away when you are finished shopping. So consider loving your neighbor by practicing these things.
We also invite you to help support The Ideal Bite Community Kitchen which is catering the food to Kroger by ordering food from them. They have daily specials, delicious take and bake items, as well as their regular menu. They provide safe and secure take out as well as delivery. Sign up to receive their daily emails by contacting Peggy Wilke at Peggy@idealbitecatering.com
