Fall and Advent/Christmas seasons.
Dear Nardin Park Church Family and Friends,
I write to update you on Nardin Park’s priorities and plans for this Fall and Advent/Christmas seasons.
The COVID-19 Taskforce held a Zoom meeting on August 19 to discuss current building activities and the possibility of opening our building in the near term. The Taskforce’s top priority continues to be keeping our staff, congregation, and people in our community safe. The Taskforce continues to monitor virus activity with the help of Oakland County. The Nardin staff and the Taskforce agree that until there is a quick and effective test, an effective prevention, or a proven vaccine we should keep our building closed for in person ministries and activities. It is quite possible our building will maintain the current operating mode through 2020 and into early 2021.
I am grateful to each member of our COVID-19 Taskforce and encourage you to reach out to them if you have COVID-19 related questions that pertain to our facility. The Taskforce includes: Mike Glenn, Mike Marks, Terry West, Don Babcock, and Dr. Christine Holland.
We are joining with the two other Farmington/Farmington Hills United Methodist Churches (First and Orchard UMC’s) to offer all of our adult education classes for this fall for all 3 congregations via zoom! This means we have a robust list of Bible studies, book studies and current events classes nearly every day of the week for you to join.
We continue to offer the classical and band led worship services through our live stream and on our YouTube channel. We are working to add more music to the classical service. Plans for a meaningful Advent and Christmas Eve worship experience will be announced soon. The missions team is offering us all the chance to help our community with monthly drive through donations September through December. And our trustees have made much needed repairs to our church parking lot as well as completing several other planned upgrades to the facility.
As we journey with Jesus, through this unprecedented time, we are reminded that God is at work in us and in our world. May we, in response, continue to do good and show love.
With gratitude,
Melanie
